The February Superdrop 2022 is a superdrop in the Secret Lair product range and a continuation of the alternate art Secret Lair Drop Series. It contains drops related to Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty and Street Fighter. It was available for purchase from the Wizards of the Coast webshop secretlair.wizards.com from February 17th through March 18, 2022.[2][3]

Description

Chun-Li

This superdrop includes mostly drops related to Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, released the same month. However its featured item was a group of brand new cards representing elements of Street Fighter, the Japanese competitive fighting video game franchise developed and published by Capcom.

In Street Fighter, many martial artists compete in a worldwide martial arts tournament. The main games have introduced a varied cast of around 80 characters into video game lore, plus around another 30 in spin-off games. The playable roster of international characters each have a unique fighting style. The most iconic characters of the franchise received Magic cards in this drop, including Chun-Li, the first female playable character of any fighting game to gain mainstream recognition, who was featured in much of the promotional art for the Magic product. The release of this drop aligns with the 35th anniversary of the Street Fighter in May 2022.

Like other Universes Beyond original cards, the Street Fighter cards are legal in eternal formats.

Blueprints

  • Eldrazi Monument
  • Ornithoper
  • Panharmonicon
  • Swiftfoot Boots
  • Rogue's Passage

Persistent Petitioners

New Persistent Petitioners with art by Galen Dara (#599) appeared in this Superdrop.

New "Common" bonus cards arrived with this lair. Extended art slivers seem to be replacing Jumpstart foil basics going forward. So far only 7 have appeared in this Superdrop.

In-multiverse reprints

As planned, Wizards of the Coast created and printed in-multiverse versions of the Street Fighter cards, approximately six months after the release of the Secret Lair.[5] These became available as part of The List of Streets of New Capenna, findable in Set Boosters for as long as players are still interested in opening them. The non-canon cards and the canon cards are considered as equivalent game pieces, meaning you can only play four copies (or one copy) of either the Magic version or Universes Beyond version in your deck. The Information below the text box of these cards indicates that the cards are related.[6]
