Armada, a division of Acclaim Comics Inc. was the publisher of several Magic: The Gathering related comics. Acclaim Comics Inc. itself, was a subsidiary of Acclaim Entertainment, an American video game developer and publisher.
In 1994 Acclaim Entertainment had bought Valiant Comics and in 1995 immediately started to diversify. The Magic publications lined up with the release of Acclaim's Battlemage video game. After a flush of releases, the line ended abruptly at the end of 1996. By 2005 Acclaim filed for bankruptcy effectively ending all titles under the Valiant and Acclaim imprints.
