QL Magic (Quantum Leap Magic) is a casual constructed Magic: The Gathering format that only allows cards from the original border sets (Alpha through Onslaught), i.e. the opposite of the Modern format.[1]
In contrast to the similar Ancient format, QL Magic also uses an older version of the rules, which incorporates rules that have since been altered or simplified. In principle, QL Magic adopts the Sixth Edition rules, dated 1 June 2003, except for some modifications. The main rules differences between QL Magic and current Magic rules are: combat damage goes on the stack; mana burn still occurs; and artifacts "turn off" while tapped (similar to Fifth Edition rules); in addition, the number of P9 cards present in a QL Magic deck are limited to 3.
