A few points to raise before I head off for the night.

  • I'm not sure this policy is the right place to get into the weeds about subpaging, and I think we're in a somewhat unresolved state following our March discussion in Discord, anyhow.
  • Use the full, official names (including subtitles) of sets and other Magic products. Probably ought to have a follow-up reminder that this is only for the title, and we don't expect the full name throughout the article body.
  • For Universes Beyond product names, exclude the words "Magic: The Gathering" and ignore stylized trademarks. This is as good a time as any to bring up that the D&D products are taking the opposite approach. AFR, for example, is a redir to the long-winded title "Dungeons & Dragons: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms", and I'll hazard a guess that the number of human beings who've spoken all of those words together rounds to zero. I would support removing the prefix from the D&D titles, and otherwise agree with this point.

But it looks like a good start! Corveroth (talk) 06:49, 29 June 2025 (UTC)

All good points. I personally can't stand subpages, and my description here is only meant to be descriptive. I'm neutral on the D&D prefix; since it's its own category (neither Magic IP nor UB) I think it could go either way. I am in favor of removing "Secret Lair Drop Series:" from everything; that just feels excessive. --Inktog (talk) 07:06, 29 June 2025 (UTC)
No. Secret Lair is a sub brand, the Drop Series is a product line. --Hunter (talk) 08:02, 29 June 2025 (UTC)
Those are both correct observations, but where else do we have that sort of faux-namespace qualifier added to the article title? It's not helping to disambiguate, and that information would certainly be in the first paragraph of each article regardless. The Drop Series page doesn't bother to list the extra words in its table, and Wizards doesn't prefix the titles, either; they just use them as-is, e.g. the Angels commander deck.
