This is a template documentation subpage for Template:Hatnote. It contains usage information, categories, interlanguage links and other content that is not part of the original template page.
Formats a hatnote intended to be placed at the top of a page (like a hat), usually for clarifications about the page's topic and often linking other very closely related or easily mixed-up pages. As Wikipedia says, "Broadly speaking, a hatnote should answer a reader's question (maybe preemptively): Am I on the right page?"

The only parameter is the text of the note. Italics are automatic, but additional wiki formatting is allowed. Don't forget a period if it's a sentence.
