White/Blue?

  • The infobox states there's a white/blue Unicorn card, but I can't find any in the search. Is this perhaps a confusion with "Adarkar Unicorn", which can be tapped for white or blue mana but is itself mono-white? -- Noneofyourbusiness (talk) 16:07, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Infobox stats should include non-eternal legal cards (e.g. silver-bordered/acorn, digital-only cards, etc.), so the single white & blue card is Rarity (https://scryfall.com/card/ptg/3/rarity). If you aren't seeing it in your search, it may be because you have excluded silver-bordered cards from your Scryfall search settings. TulipDaisy (talk) 16:34, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
That's weird. I didn't exclude anything, but "type:unicorn color:u" didn't produce any results until after I clicked your link. Now that search term takes me straight to Rarity, but she still doesn't appear under "type:unicorn color:u or type:unicorn color:g" or "type:unicorn color>w" or just "type:unicorn". --Noneofyourbusiness (talk) 18:39, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Yeah, I think that's a side effect of how default Scryfall searches work. If there are any results that are eternal legal, it will only show those in the search results. If there are no black-bordered results, then it checks for any non-eternal legal results and will return those if any are found. So, for example, "type:unicorn c=wu" will return Rarity, but, as you pointed out, "type:unicorn" will not show Rarity among its results. However, "type:unicorn include:extras" will include Rarity. You can override this default behavior, but it requires logging in to Scryfall and changing your account settings, and so will revert to default behavior if you're logged out. In general, I think adding "include:extras" to searches tends to catch most of the stragglers. -- TulipDaisy (talk) 19:09, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
TulipDaisy is correct there. By default, Scryfall searches will ignore four categories of results — Arena-only cards (e.g. Alchemy); MTGO-only cards (e.g. "Name Sticker" Goblin); what Scryfall terms "funny cards" (Un-sets, Ponies: The Galloping, etc.); and what Scryfall terms "extras" (tokens, planes, etc). So the definition is not strictly eternal-legal because cards like Contract from Below will show up just fine, despite being banned everywhere. You can change this in your account settings (on PC) if you have a Scryfall account. One important thing to note when using the "include: extras" term is that while it will give you Un-set cards, it will also give you tokens. For things like the interwiki stats, you'll have to remove those either manually or with "-type:token".
