Talk:Planeswalker/Trivia
Regarding this trivia point:
- Azor, Garth One-Eye, Jared Carthalion, Ravi, and Slobad are all planeswalkers who've been printed as legendary creature cards, but not as planeswalker cards. With the exception of Azor, Garth, and Jared, their cards were all printed before the planeswalker card type was introduced, while Azor was printed as a legendary creature because his card depicted him after losing his spark, and Garth and Jared's cards depict the characters before receiving their sparks.
Is there sourcing regarding Garth and Jared's card design? I think the explanation behind Azor's card design is obvious since it was made during the current/modern storyline continuity. But with Jared and Garth it's a little more ambiguous since they're Old Walkers and I can't seem to find a source for either of them where WOTC states these cards depict the characters before receiving their sparks. I think it's obvious given they were printed as legendary creatures (and not Planeswalker cards) and the card designs seem consistent with their characters prior to planeswalking, but there's definitely some confusion among various posters on subreddits and other online forums.
Also, slight nit-pick but I think that last sentence should be rephrased as "before their sparks were ignited."
Planeswalker counts
Made this edit just before, but it was largely reverted. Not too concerned, but I'm confused as to how some of these numbers come about if searching for "t:[planeswalker type]" doesn't work. For example, the edit claims Jaya has four cards: my search returns Jaya from Dominaria, Dominaria United, and War of the Spark. For Chandra, Kaya and Tibalt, they have Acorn or Acorn-equivalent cards that don't turn up in normal searches, which could explain their number. Jaya and Garruk don't, however. Could someone illuminate me as to these counts? 114.76.200.191 19:30, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
