Page precautions
I predict that a lot of trolls will vandalize this page in the coming weeks. Should we take special precautions? --Falconfly (talk) 23:25, 14 December 2020 (UTC)
Not really sure I agree but I guess precaution is good. --J spencer93 (talk) 05:28, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Noteworthy they're non-binary?
Feeling like we should add something about their non-binary gender. AFAIK they're the first human or demihuman character specifically non-binary, and the first non-cisgender planeswalker. Obviously there is the balance to strike between noting these facts, and not taking away from other parts of them and their role in the story. But the article is certainly long enough that it's conspicuous not to mention it directly now, as for instance Hallar and Alesha do (in much shorter articles). The "Creating Niko Aris" article is also a clear source for pointing out the creative team was aware of their non-binary status as being meaningful and relevant to the community despite not being particularly important in the game world. Anyway just thought I'd throw it out there before adding my own language later if nobody else does. - jerodast (talk) 05:21, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
Biggest argument against is that Ashiok is cited as taking the first instance of being outside the binary, but with the caveat that Ashiok's general status as a walking ambiguity seems a large part of Ashiok's character. Given that, "regular human, nonbinary" may or may not reach notability. Certainly the character design of a nonbinary from nonbinaries seems worthwhile, but most characters have no creation articles. 220.238.172.164 07:18, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- Good point about Ashiok. I guess what's more noteworthy than any specific in-universe or historical detail, is that there are sources from the creators pointing out that creating Niko's identity was significant to them in a way where it was not for Ashiok or anyone else. - jerodast (talk) 11:20, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
