Talk:List of planeswalker cards by format

Criteria

This list was abandoned for a few years until I picked it up and updated it. I used the following criteria:

  • Any booster set with (at least some) new cards that contains planeswalkers
  • No reprint-only sets, e.g., Masters
  • No non-randomized set, e.g., Duel Decks
  • If a set is listed, all its planeswalkers are given (e.g., all six from M13, even though Bolas was a reprint)
  • If a planeswalker card is not otherwise represented on the list, is set is given even if it doesn't fulfill the above criteria (e.g., Global Series)

I haven't decided what to do with Planeswalker Deck exclusives but will probably put them with their respective sets. Other options would be listing them as separate sets, in a separate table, or not at all.

And of course, this is a wiki, so any of this is subject to change! Just thought it would be helpful to show my work. --BlackDiamondDragon (talk) 19:29, 18 November 2019 (UTC)

Great update. And I noticed that Eternal, Modern, Pioneer, Standard actually sorts alphabetical which makes this very useful. I would honestly skip out on Urza. If they ever print a normal 5 color walker there might be value in adding him as well but currently that would be more clutter then anything. - Yandere Sliver 20:07, 18 November 2019 (UTC)
Thanks! I ended up using a separate section for planeswalker decks rather than clutter the main list further. Knowing that there won't be any more makes me feel more justified in separating them out. I ended up giving Urza a line. I agree we might as well add him if we ever get a black-bordered 5-color walker, at which point we might have to bite the bullet and add another column. (Other options: make a single "3+ color" column, or have separate lists for monocolored, 2-color, 3-color, etc.) --BlackDiamondDragon (talk) 21:08, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
Wait. They stop doing planeswalker decks. I missed that news. O_o - Yandere Sliver 21:10, 6 January 2020 (UTC)
I guess they won't actually have stopped until the THB ones come out, but yep. :) --BlackDiamondDragon (talk) 16:08, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
