Article suggestions

Hey Inktog, I've done a few of these large tables in my time and I just wanted to provide some feedback before you hit the middle 500.

  • These sorts of tables are bad on mobile devices, and last time we checked more than ⅔rds of Wiki readers were viewing from mobile platforms. I would suggest removing as many columns as you can.
    • Because you have publishing dates, the "Week" column is a bit redundant (i.e. there's no ordering you can do with that one that you can't do with date).
    • I would pick one URL to provide to readers and ditch the other column. The vast majority of people don't need both, they're just going to click on the one they want to read.
      • If you want to save more space, hyperlink the article titles and ditch both URL columns.
  • None of the article titles in the "Article" column need quotation marks. You can italicize them but I would just leave them as is.
  • The Topic column is better served by just being group-able topics and not semi-descriptions. The theme weeks, while interesting, aren't helpful because Mark only writes one column per theme. "Color pie — Blue" works better than "Color pie (blue), written for Blue Week" for example. And even then, I'm not sure the five colors are necessary because the tables are broken up by 100 weeks.

Hey, thanks for the advice! I'm definitely in the early "collect too much information" stage—the redundancy is helpful to my brain—but I'm planning to pare it down before publishing and will probably end up implementing most of your suggestions. The per-100-week division probably won't make it to the published version, either.
Assigning topics to the earlier articles can be tricky because there are so many experimental one-ofs, but I see your point and I'll do my best. Hopefully it'll be easier to see the patterns once I've got a few hundred more under my belt. You're definitely right about theme weeks being unnecessary in this context.
Regarding quotation marks, I'm not sure why they'd need to be removed. Individual articles normally get quotation marks, nothing in the lists of works guidelines suggests an exception (e.g., List of Stranger Things episodes is a table-formatted list of minor works and retains the punctuation), and the horizontal space saved is minimal. --Inktog (talk) 16:22, 30 June 2025 (UTC)
