Starting life total

Isn't the life total for DC set to 20, not 30?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 93.73.217.133 (talkcontribs).

Indeed. Just checked the sources again. Duel Commander starts with 20 life totals, 1v1 Commander with 30. - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yandere-sliver (talkcontribs) 14:41, 23 January 2019.

Internal schism

Duel Commander is in a weird place right now. Due to some internal infighting, the majority of the Duel Commander Rules Committee (DCRC) was split from their official channels and website. Various announcements are available below:

  • The DCRC's side of the story is here.
  • DocFX side of the story is here.
  • Support for DocFX from three former member is here.
  • WotC pausing Duel Commander on Magic Online is here.

There are currently two competing ban lists:

MTG.Wiki does not endorse or support either party. We have removed external links to either website until such time as the majority of players have settled on one over the other. -- RivalRowan (talk) 20:31, 24 November 2025 (UTC)

Welp, WotC have chosen a side—the DCRC. -- RivalRowan (talk) 23:50, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
My understanding is that Daybreak, not Wizards, is currently running MTGO. Corveroth (talk) 01:55, 26 November 2025 (UTC)
