Talk:Desparkening
Title
I had hoped WotC would share a real name for this event by now, but no such luck yet. "Great Desparking" was used by a random Question Mark on Blogatog but repeated by MaRo in his answer, and "Desparkening" definitely feels like a joke name even if it's the only real one we've heard R&D use. "Great Desparkening" is a mix of the two and as far as I know hasn't been used anywhere, but I'm not sure where we want this page to end up yet. RudleyDudley (talk) 11:27, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Honestly surprised WotC didn't have an official name right out of the gate. Possible alternatives are "Spark Rupture" (from the card of the same name), "Spark Fading" (from the way it's described in-universe), or some variation thereof. -- RivalRowan (talk) 13:14, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
- Story Lead Roy Graham also uses Desparkening on the Vorthos Cast (albeit somewhat jokingly again). He does say "Great Desparkening" once, but omits the "Great" every other time, as did MaRo, so I think that's the best we've got for now. I'll move the page. - We've got ourselves an edit war, so I went ahead and protected the page. Feel free to comment here with any further thoughts on the name. RudleyDudley (talk) 22:10, 8 August 2023 (UTC)

House of M/Decimation comparisons
Is anyone on the wiki well-versed enough in Marvel Comics to draw metatextual comparisons to the Decimation storyline around 20 years ago? On the surface, I found the events quite similar: an evergrowing cast with an empowering trait culled off to a more manageable number, but all the important characters are kept intact (if depowered). The other wiki hasn't got much on "why" the Decimation had to happen, which means it's certainly possible it was done for the sake of doing. Article archives weren't well kept, especially for such niche interests. I could write a new paragraph on the similarities, but it seems disingenuous if the intents were totally different. 114.76.198.69 08:27, 19 March 2024 (UTC)
