Banned list

The section Brawl#Banned list is not structured properly imo. It first lists some cards which are banned (in either Standard or Historic Brawl), and then has two separate sections for Standard and Historic each. Is the Standard Brawl banned list a proper subset of the Historic list? In that case I would list all cards banned in Standard Brawl followed by all card which are additionally banned in Historic Brawl. Otherwise I would list both banned lists separetely. --Psion1C (talk) 00:30, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

I'm not sure. Brawl is per definition Standard, I think. I dont think it is a subset of Historic Brawl. But I'm no expert in formats. --Hunterofsalvation (talk) 10:16, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Brawl uses the same card pool as Standard, but the ban lists are completely independent. - Yandere-sliver (talk) 17:33, 21 November 2020 (UTC)
Unless it is Historic Brawl, I meant --Hunterofsalvation (talk) 18:40, 21 November 2020 (UTC)

Brawl rules change? (Jul 2024)

Most places including this page say that Brawl is a 60-card format, but wizards.com is saying it's a 100-card format (see attached screenshot). Did the rules just change?

If it's changed, is Brawl still a Standard cardpool or opened up now to be more like the Commander cardpool?

Update: Just found this Reddit thread which makes it sound Historic Brawl is now just called Brawl: https://www.reddit.com/r/MagicArena/comments/18zsx1z/ok_is_brawl_100_card_format_or_60_card_because_im/ Standard Brawl is 60 cards with the Standard cardpool, and Historic Brawl (apparently now just "Brawl") is 100 cards with a much larger cardpool.
