Gnostic Archon

Having done some (very brief) reading up on Gnostic Archons, I'm not sure the following quote from the "Description" section is accurate to Magic's Archons.

"Archon" is mostly notably also a term for malevolent, bestial entities within Gnosticism, that oppress humanity in the material world; this lends itself to Magic's Archons having animalistic mounts and being associated with soul-crushing order.

I am not versed enough in Gnosticism to be able to refute it though. -- RivalRowan (talk) 21:10, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

To be honest, I'd considered removing the line as soon as I saw it simply because it lacks a source. It seems like pure speculation to me; I'd say it's much more likely that Magic's archons come from DnD, and I'm not sure what the source of their archons is. Not to mention I don't think you can say it's "mostly notably" known as that term when that's not even where wikipedia links when you search the term (and certainly not where I'd heard of it before in my own life). I'd support removing it entirely. RudleyDudley (talk) 01:00, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
Agreed. I've removed it. -- RivalRowan (talk) 03:11, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
Given how an edit recent it is, we could ping the editor to see if they can justify the addition. Unless that's not really policy? Shield (talk) 04:55, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
I'd welcome input from Falconfly, but I'm not aware of any intentional connection between Gnosticism and Magic. I'm comfortable with deleting it for now. Corveroth (talk) 07:11, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
