The Magic: The Gathering Foundations Starter Collection is a fixed supplemental card set of 387 cards designed for beginning players.[2][3] The Starter Collection retails for $59.99.

Description

Once players have mastered the Foundations Beginner Box, they can move on to the Starter Collection. This collection helps beginning players expand on the themes and techniques they’ve already discovered in the Beginner Box.[4] With this set Magic players learn about combos, color hosers, hand attack, disruption and multicolor.[5]

The Foundations Starter Collection is available in the English language only.

Foundations Commander

Three Foundations cards are included in the Starter Collection to support Commander gameplay. These are not legal in Standard.[2] Arcane Signet, Command Tower, and Sol Ring each feature the FDC expansion code, and a unique expansion symbol () to separate them from the rest of the Collection.[3]

Magic: The Gathering Arena

Cards from the Starter Collection will be available on Magic: The Gathering Arena alongside cards from the main set and Beginner Box.[6] Unlike the main set, the Starter Collection is not available for purchase on the client and the cards can only be obtained by crafting wildcards. The cards do not appear in Magic: The Gathering Foundations packs or Limited events. In the initial set announcement, Sol Ring was listed as becoming available on Arena in the Foundations card image gallery. This was subsequently clarified as a mistake and the card would not be added to the client for crafting.

Magic Online

The Starter Collection is not available for purchase on Magic Online.[7] Players who purchase the Account Upgrade Kit will receive one copy of each reprinted card from the Foundations Starter Collection – 103 cards in all – in addition to the Kit's regular contents.
