Magic artwork has occasionally been taken without credit or authorization and used elsewhere.

Godless Shrine

Godless Shrine was duplicated exactly into the background of Shadowverse's Holy Purebomb.

In early 2018, digital card game Shadowverse previewed a new card, Holy Purebomb. The background of that card's art was copied from the Gatecrash printing of Godless Shrine. Shadowverse's publisher issued an apology and promised to improve their processes to inform in-house staff and external commissioned artists, preventing future instances. They also updated the card's artwork to remove the plagiarized background.[1]

Teferi, Time Raveler

The outline of Teferi, his staff, and the tower in the background were traced exactly.

In March 2024, a Reddit user reported that the Happy Color mobile app included a paint-by-numbers template derived from the art for Teferi, Time Raveler.[2]
