Planechase 2012 consists out of four 60 card preconstructed theme decks. Each deck comes with 8 plane and 2 phenomenon cards.

Chaos Reigns

Chaos Reigns was designed around revisiting the keyword Cascade.[1]

The mythic rare Legendary creature in this deck is Maelstrom Wanderer.

The seven rares in this deck are Exotic Orchard, Enigma Sphinx, Etherium-Horn Sorcerer, Whirlpool Warrior, Mass Mutiny, Last Stand, and Sunken Hope.

The deck contained six eternal format legal cards which were never printed before. They are Maelstrom Wanderer, Etherium-Horn Sorcerer, Mass Mutiny, Shardless Agent, Illusory Angel and Fractured Powerstone.

Four cards would get a modern card frame for the first time: Apocalypse's Last Stand and Whirlpool Warrior, Erratic Explosion (from Onslaught), and Peregrine Drake (last seen in Urza's Saga).

Night of the Ninja

Night of the Ninja was designed around revisiting the keyword Ninjutsu.[1]

The mythic rare Legendary creature in this deck is Vela the Night-Clad.

The seven rares in this deck are Silent-Blade Oni, Higure, the Still Wind, Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni, Sakashima's Student, Quietus Spike, Dark Hatchling, and Glen Elendra Liege.

The deck contained six eternal format legal cards which were never printed before. They are Vela the Night-Clad, Silent-Blade Oni, Sakashima's Student, Baleful Strix, Sai of the Shinobi and Fractured Powerstone.

Only one card was newly printed with a modern card frame: Torment's Tainted Isle

Primordial Hunger

Primordial Hunger was designed around revisiting the keyword Devour.[1]

The mythic rare Legendary creature in this deck is Thromok the Insatiable.

The seven rares in this deck are Awakening Zone, Warstorm Surge, Dragonlair Spider, Preyseizer Dragon, Mitotic Slime, Hellion Eruption, and Mycoloth.

The deck contained six eternal format legal cards which were never printed before. They are Thromok the Insatiable, Dragonlair Spider, Preyseizer Dragon, Beetleback Chief, Brindle Shoat and Fractured Powerstone.

Additionally, two cards were printed in modern card frame for the first time: Nullmage Advocate (last seen in Judgment) and Wall of Blossoms (from Stronghold)

Savage Auras

Savage Auras was designed around revisiting the keyword Totem armor.[1]

The mythic rare Legendary creature in this deck is Krond the Dawn-Clad.

The seven rares in this deck are Indrik Umbra, Elderwood Scion, Kor Spiritdancer, Celestial Ancient, Predatory Urge, Three Dreams, and Sigil of the Empty Throne.

The deck contained six eternal format legal cards which were never printed before. They are Krond the Dawn-Clad, Indrik Umbra, Elderwood Scion, Felidar Umbra, Dreampod Druid and Fractured Powerstone. One card received a modern card frame for the first time: Portal's Armored Griffin.
