Theme decks

Nemesis had four theme decks. One is monocolored, and three are bicolored.

Included with each deck was a booklet with deck lists and strategy guides for all four decks. An enhanced version of each deck was also suggested to upgrade it for a competitive Standard environment. Nemesis was the final expansion to have these. (The cards for the enhanced deck lists were not supplied)

Breakdown

Breakdown is a green/blue theme deck from Nemesis.

“  Breakdown gives you the advantage just long enough to give your opponents a thorough bashing. Gargantuan creatures can be played early, but with a slight catch: they decay quickly. So act fast.[1]  ”

The 2 rares in this deck are Parallax Inhibitor and Skyshroud Behemoth.

“  The strategy of the enhanced “Breakdown” deck isn’t much different than that of the basic deck. The goal is to quickly pummel your opponent with cheap, hard-to-block creatures and then play some cheap, big creatures with which you can deliver the finishing blow. [2]  ”

Eruption

Eruption is a red/white theme deck from Nemesis.

“  Eruption is bubbling over with creatures that can spell death to your rivals. Anything they fail to destroy is fodder for the laccolith and flowstone brutes that inhabit this deck.[3]  ”

The 2 rares in this deck are Flowstone Overseer and Oracle's Attendants.

“  The enhanced version of “Eruption” is faster than the basic deck. A selection of cheaper creatures and quick direct damage gives you the potential to win before your opponent can even beg for mercy. [4]  ”

Mercenaries

Mercenaries is a black theme deck from Nemesis.

“  With Mercenaries you enlist an infantry of vile fiends to do your bidding. Where there is one, there are many as you use these creatures' recruiting ability to spawn other monstrosities until the victory is secured.[5]  ”

The 2 rares in this deck are Belbe's Portal and Rathi Assassin.

“  The enhanced “Mercenaries” deck features a more finely honed recruiting strategy, an improved ability to deal with threatening creatures, and added cards that may disrupt your opponent’s game plan. Recruiting may be a slower strategy than that used by some creature-based decks, but you’ll have the advantage of sheer numbers and effective creature replacement. [6]  ”

Replicator

Replicator is a black/green theme deck from Nemesis.

“  Your opponents will have double the trouble defending against the duplicating creatures of Replicator. What little more it costs to play these harbingers of doom is well worth the suffering they inflict.[7]  ”

The 2 rares in this deck are Saproling Burst and Saproling Cluster.

“  The enhanced “Replicator” deck features a major modification: red replaces black as the secondary colour. The change in colour should help you better handle the types of threats you might expect to face in a constructed deck environment. Red allows you to play with creature-control cards that can also deal damage to your opponent, an important consideration because some of your opponents may play creatureless decks. [8]  ”
