Mike Mearls is a game designer who worked for Wizards of the Coast from June 2005 to December 2023.[1]
Description
As Senior Manager of Dungeons & Dragons R&D and Franchise Creative Director he set the creative direction for the D&D game. He was one of the designers who helped create Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition.[2]
Since June 2020, Mearls was Director of Game Design for Magic: The Gathering. When he made the shift to Magic design, Mark Rosewater put him on several Exploratory and Vision Design teams, as he had a lot of experience with the mechanical execution of worldbuilding.[3]
In December 2023, he was laid off alongside many other employees of Hasbro.[4]
