UPDATED MARCH 2022

Infect is a hyper-aggressive deck based in perhaps one of the most infamous mechanics in the game: Infect. The archetype is present in Legacy and Modern.

Overview

There is a bit of controversy regarding as to what should infect be considered: Aggro, Combo or Aggro-Combo. And the arguments for each case are as follows:

  • Infect is a Combo deck because it's highly non-interactive and wins in a somewhat unconventional way
  • Infect is an Aggro deck because it's similar to a traditional pump-based Aggro deck - except that the opponents can't gain life

In Infect's case, the controversy isn't as resolved as in other cases such as Reanimator's (in which the Combo aspect - more clearly - overweights the Aggro aspect). Infect seems to be its own category of controversy since the mechanic itself is seen as a kind of Combo mechanic which is enabled by the Aggro.

Nonetheless, the deck is strong. And has access to powerful, efficient defenses such Daze and Force of Will.

The deck can be found in three versions listed below: Mono-Gree, Mono-Blue and Green-Blue - although there are reports of Black or Black-splashed lists seen around sometimes.

This range of versions allow for decks with or without Reserved List cards.
