Help talk:Card tags
The article that card tags links to cards in Gatherer, though I don't think this is true. It tries to open magiccardsinfo but most the time it doesn't work lately. --GeoMike 00:40, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Is there a reason why this wiki does not have a page for every card? I can easily use the pywikipedia mediawiki bot to create one from the gatherer source data if it is desirable. Although magiccards.info is truly amazing it does lack a place to add information, opinion, "famous decks" and a lot of other stuff that we could add on here. Let me know ... I am watching this page. - When we last discussed this, we found that it is difficult to say, whether a card is notable. It seems to be a very subjective matter and really depends on the player type. If a card is notable because it is a main component of a "famous deck", then that deck page could provide much more information and insight on why that card is important and how it interacts with other cards in your deck. Note that at the moment we only covered a small portion of notable decks and imo these are a higher priority. Bottom line is, we only have articles about individual cards, if they are recognized by the majority of the players out there, e.g Black Lotus. As an alternative, cards can be put into groups, like dual lands. Hope that helped. Oracle of Truth 19:59, 16 August 2008 (EDT)
I can't for the life of me figure out how to tag split cards. Can someone give me some pointers?--Filby 22:35, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- You are supposed use Fire // Ice, the same as on the forums. However, it does not seem to work, neither there nor here on the wiki. I contacted Hannes and he said, he'll look into it. Oracle of Truth 23:22, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks :)--Filby 00:23, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, the Card can be found by Fire (Fire/Ice) and vice versa, so also with Ice (Fire/Ice), so I would tag it Fire/Ice (hope that works), and it would give you the results both for 'fire' and 'ice' .. --Hó-òh Diskussion 03:45, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Mmh, that doesn't work .. but (Fire/Ice) works. --Hó-òh Diskussion 03:46, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Mh, Lol. I wrote nonsense. By searching it works, but by tagging not .. so excuse me for these line of complete nonsense .. --Hó-òh Diskussion 03:47, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- Better let Hannes fix it so that Fire//Ice, Fire / Ice, Fire/Ice, and Fire // Ice work. I wonder what's wrong with the thingo. MM (talk!) 04:57, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Formatting oddities/issues
There's a few slight problems with some special characters, which ideally ought to be caught by the filter, but can be worked around. I dunno if anyone's willing to work on that or not, but I'd be willing to put in the work myself if an appropriate admin is willing for me to do so.
I've just done some tweaking of the Unhinged page, altering these links:
- "Ach! Hans, Run!" - replacing the quotes with " made it work fine: "Ach! Hans, Run!"
- Death (Life/Death) - had to be done with <c title=...> and looks thus: Death (Life/Death)
All it'd take would be a quick translation using urlencode, and then the originals could work without adjustment. Anyone willing to take it on? Shouldn't take much work, but it will require an administrator (to edit the MediaWiki extension PHP file).

- Hi, could you post an updated version of MediaWiki:Monobook.js on your user page? We'd be happy to apply the changes. Oracle of Truth 22:07, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- I've made a change to monobook that fixes the slash issue, but I don't know if it'll break anything else. Also, quotes have to be fixed in the PHP, as they break the actual HTML. See User:Rosuav/monobook.js for the very simple change - compare AutoCardMI() and AutoCard() down the bottom: I removed the replace() translation (which was grepping for a slash and replacing with open sq bracket). BTW: In Special:Version it's unobvious which extension does the <c> tag. Is it part of Cite? ImageMap? Something that isn't credited at all? Anyhow. It's in one of the PHP extension files, not in Javascript, and will need to be edited there. Rosuav 22:59, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- It's something that Hannes specially wrote, afaik. I guess you will have to contact him directly, since he is the only one with access to the php files (you can pm him on the forums). Oracle of Truth 00:10, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know who Hannes is, but yes, that would be likely. I'll go look on forums. Thanks! Rosuav 00:41, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Planes and other non-traditional cards
Is it possible to use card tags to link to non-traditional cards like Morphic Tide (mentioned at Liliana Vess)? Thrawcheld (talk) 23:14, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
