Dillon Deveney, known online as DilloniusRex, is a Creative Writer and the Principal Narrative Game Designer for Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond at Wizards of the Coast.[1]
History
Deveney started working for the Universes Beyond team as Senior Narrative Game Designer in July 2022, and was promoted in February 2024.[2]
As the narrative lead, he was heavily involved in the Set Design of Final Fantasy.[1][3] He was directly responsible for the intentional divergence between the English and Japanese names of the card Suplex/メテオストライク (Meteor Strike). The English name is taken from the original, imprecise translation of Final Fantasy VI, and became a meme.[4]
