A date stamp is a gold-leafed stamp placed typically on the illustration of a Magic: The Gathering card. The stamp can also be located on the type line.
Date stamps are associated with prerelease cards, but can also be found on release cards or the 30th Anniversary promos for example.
The date format of the stamp did also change over the years. Long months are often abbreviated, e.g. Sept.
