Would it make sense to change the name of this category to "Dominarians" (and the same for similar categories)? The current phrasing seems awkward. RudleyDudley (talk) 06:40, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- We had that in the past, I think. But is doesn't work with the Dominaria template --Hunterofsalvation (talk) 06:43, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hadn't thought of the interaction with the Template and I'm not an expert on that, but it does look like the template refers to this category directly. I'm not sure it should cause an issue to rename the category. RudleyDudley (talk) 06:53, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- Currently the navbox template create these categorises semi-automaticlly. A plane navbox will categorise everithing into the plane. You can specify a qualifier, like "characters" so it will get classified into a "Dominaria characters" instead of Dominaria.
- The reason for this bit akward wording are adjectives and demonyms. For Dominaria that would be fairly easy like Dominarian and Dominarians respectively. But other planes might be more difficult like Innistrat... Adjective would be Innistrati? Demonym might be Innistrati as well perhaps Innistrater? Especially Demonyms follow no clear and hard rules, and might need sourcing from lore texts.
- I think adding Demonyms to the plane infobox might be a fun thing to do, now that I think about it. - 122.30.167.96 00:28, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- Is that definitely how it works? Looking at the source on the Dominaria template, it seems to fully specify "Category:Dominaria characters." (and just to note, I actually added Demonyms to the plane infobox about a year ago, see for example Amonkhet or Kaldheim) RudleyDudley (talk) 01:41, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- This is how it currently works. We can always change that. Second point was that it also gives a clear naming pattern: <Plane> <qualifier>. Innistrad locations, Rath affiliations, Dominaria characters... Anything that isn't qualified goes into the main <Plane> category. Categories are mainly for organization so when we moved to the current system we are using a few years ago. - Yandere-sliver (talk) 23:19, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- I personally prefer readability over organization on this but I'm willing to hear others' opinions. Wikipedia, for example, uses the Demonym, e.g. "American people" or possessives e.g. "Geography of Germany." The wiki would be perfectly organized if we just numbered every page and category but it wouldn't be very readable. RudleyDudley (talk) 05:10, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
