Brannon is a young pyromancer acolyte in Keral Keep on the plane of Regatha.[1]

Description

Brannon has red hair and wears a vest, a sash, trousers, and sandals. He is young, about five to ten years younger than Chandra, whom he admires greatly. He has artisanal skills, evidenced by making a metal necklace for Chandra at a young age.

History

When Jace Beleren was sent by the prelate on Kephalai to retrieve the Dragon Scroll from Chandra, he first encountered Brannon, although the young pyromancer did not see the mindmage, who hid at the bottom of a cliff. Jace learned of Chandra by reading Brannon's mind, and he followed the young pyromancer to Keral Keep. Brannon found Chandra relaxing after her scroll heist and presented her with a metal necklace, which he had made for her himself. As Chandra was showing Brannon the scroll, Jace walked into the room and demanded the scroll from Chandra. This quickly escalated into a full-on duel between Jace and Chandra.

After Chandra blasted a hole in the wall of the Keep, Jace nabbed Brannon by his collar to use as a hostage against Chandra. Chandra was about to give the scroll to Jace in exchange for Brannon's safety, but before she could do this, the real Brannon struggled to his feet, having been knocked out by the explosion. The Brannon Jace was holding was an illusion, and the duel ensued. After raising a giant wall of fire and knocking Jace down the hill, Chandra recovered Brannon and attempted to bring him back to the keep. But this Brannon was also an illusion and was Jace himself. Jace used the opportunity to grab the scroll from Chandra, stunning her and then planeswalking away. The real Brannon helped Chandra to her feet afterward, and she admitted defeat against Jace, although she had secretly copied the symbols of the scroll earlier, and thus had no further need of the scroll.
