Commander 2016, officially styled as Commander (2016 Edition), is a product in the Commander series that will be released by Wizards of the Coast on November 11, 2016.

Set details

For the first time, Commander 2016 introduces 5 new four-colored preconstructed theme decks that take social Magic to the next level. There are 56 new cards legal in Vintage and Legacy. Each of the five preconstructed decks comes with 4 foil Commander cards, 1 oversized foil commander card, 10 double-faced tokens, a deck storage box, a strategy insert, a rules reference card and 15 new cards.

Mechanics

• Commander 2016 introduces Partner (You can have two Commanders if both have partner). Each two-color legendary creature suggests a particular style of Commander deck to build. The two commanders together provide a 4-color color identity for the deck.
• The set also features Undaunted (this spell cost less to cast for each opponent)
• There are quite a few returning mechanics represented over the five decks. But Basic landcycling shows up in all five.

Commander 2016 has at leat three cycles (one of which is a double cycle):

• 4-color commanders: five mythic rare four-colored legendary creatures that can be used as a commander —
• Allied color partners: 5 mythic rare bi-colored legendary creatures with Partner —
• Enemy color partners: 10 mythic rare bi-colored legendary creatures with Partner
