Arlen was a Prodigal Sorcerer of the Institute of Arcane Studies, who travelled with his horse Feathers to the land of Kush on Aerona to discover the reason for the Festival of Estark and the reasons for the powerful mages that came from Kush. He visited the town of Farndrel, but was kicked out; as he rested outside the village, he fell asleep, and was killed by Leshrac Nightwalker, who was able to manifest his finger onto Dominaria despite being trapped in Phyrexia.
