The Bolas Arc is the storyline that tells the story of the fight of the Gatewatch against Nicol Bolas, culminating in his defeat after the War of the Spark. It is the second major Planeswalker storyline after the Eldrazi arc. It comprises the Kaladesh block, Amonkhet block, Ixalan block, Dominaria, Core Set 2019, and the "Guilds of Ravnica block".[1] The Arc finishes Bolas's storyline set up by Time Spiral block and Alara block, with Battle for Zendikar block and Shadows over Innistrad block setting up the Gatewatch.

In terms of sets, it includes eleven expansion sets released from September 2016 until April 2019: Kaladesh, Aether Revolt, Amonkhet, Hour of Devastation, Ixalan, Rivals of Ixalan, Dominaria, Core Set 2019, Guilds of Ravnica, Ravnica Allegiance and War of the Spark. "Codename: Handlebar" was the term used internally.[2][3]
