Withengar is powerful demon lord from the plane of Innistrad. He is infamous for slaying Saint Traft.

Storyline

The Saint, the Geist and the Angel

Prior to the events of the Innistrad block set, the Skirsdag cultists led a monster slayer named Saint Traft into a trap. As a result, Traft inadvertently summoned Withengar and was killed in battle. The demon's victory did not last long, since Innistrad's angels vengefully attacked him and destroyed his physical body. Unfortunately, Withengar did not die, but reverted to pure black mana. His essence was imprisoned in a magical blade called Elbrus. [1]

Dark Ascension

Withengar was reincarnated during the events of Dark Ascension which were caused by the absence of Avacyn. He developed a great desire for revenge and, at some point, attacked a town. Withengar's fate is currently unknown.
