The Sharpest Steel is Tempered in Fire.

Mirrodin Pure was one of 2 possible names for the 3rd set in the Scars of Mirrodin block, as Wizards of the Coast did not want to reveal the victor of the Phyrexian/Mirran conflict. [1] [2] [3] [4] It was what Mirrodin would have become had the Mirrans defeated the Phyrexians. Phyrexia won, and the set was named New Phyrexia.

Only one card was ever printed with the Mirrodin Pure expansion symbol, a version of Pristine Talisman previewed at the Mirrodin Besieged Game Day. [5]
