When Jace Beleren was sent by the prelate on Kephalai to retrieve the Dragon Scroll from Chandra, he first encountered Brannon, although the young pyromancer did not see the mindmage, who hid at the bottom of a cliff. Jace learned of Chandra by reading Brannon's mind, and he followed the young pyromancer to Keral Keep. Brannon found Chandra relaxing after her scroll heist and presented her with a metal necklace, which he had made for her himself.
