Lorwyn storyline
Thanks for the appreciation, Jen. After a long time of drowning in work, work, work I have found my way back to MTGSWiki as a way of relaxing from writing research papers and solving stupid administrative tasks. Count on more Lorwyn articles appearing soon ;-) Have a great day! Caranthir 13:24, 11 November 2007 (GMT)
Citing using deckpage
Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong trying to use the deckpage template on a 10th edition theme deck? Thanks. --GeoMike 18:24, 16 November 2007 (GMT)
Set Details on Lorwyn
Why'd you revert the spoiling of Lorwyn information on mtgsalvation? You didn't give any explanation when you reverted it, so I have to ask you here I guess. I see nothing relevant to the article. No other article has when it was spoiled on mtgsalvation. Is this going to be a new trend? Do we have to do research to find out when each expansion has been spoiled? --GeoMike 11:39, 19 November 2007 (GMT)
- I don't think we really need this kind of info, but we can keep it - it's wiki about MTGS too, after all. However, I don't think it should be under Set details title. It is just some additional info (I think it would fit in some references ;-) ). --MORT (T) 16:00, 19 November 2007 (GMT)
Removing my PI
I tried to contact you on the forums, but it looks like you aren't at all there anymore. So, here I am.
Long time, no talk. I'm here because after the somewhat recent OiNK debacle, I'm trying to remove all personal information from my posts, that associates this user name with a person. I have done that with my own posts, but notice that some still remains. Could you please remove all mentions of my name from:
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showp...&postcount=140
and
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showp...&postcount=261
Thanks a lot. Hunted Charlie 00:31, 22 November 2007 (GMT)
I sort of assumed you knew what I was talking about, seeing as you torrent (or used to). It was a site, it got shut down. Anyway, I'll contact the admins and ask them. Hunted Charlie 03:26, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
OiNK was just a really nice site, very friendly. It got shut down by the IFPI and the BPI, which I guess says enough about the site. That these people would want to find me is very doubtful, it's mostly just that I don't want the type of people who frequent those sites, friendly as they usually are, with my information. It creeps me out.
I really don't know much about MTGS right now, I've just been checking in weekly or so and not reading much. Pretty much just the "Heroes" thread, actually. :) I was on MTGS for the MTG talk, the trades, and the Clan. The Clan is gone and I no longer play MTG (I wish I still did, but there is only one other player in the area so I haven't played in months), so i just check in to see how things are going periodically. The only thing I was very surprised at when I went there was that JayC was banned for ripping, which is tragic because when I was still trading, I considered him the most reliable person on the site. :(
I did PM mikeyg, who will hopefully get back to me soon. But, if I may ask, why did you choose to do this "blacklisting" thing from the site? Is there any advantage to that that cannot be obtained by simply choosing not to log in? Hunted Charlie 03:50, 22 November 2007 (GMT)
Can't access it? How does that work? Is it intentional? Mikeyg is currently a Global Moderator, I messaged him because no admins were online. Hunted Charlie 03:55, 22 November 2007 (GMT)
Hm, that's annoying. Try going to this link and navigating from there. Tell me how that works. Hunted Charlie 04:01, 22 November 2007 (GMT)
That's... bizarre, to say the least. Try clearing your cookies and cache and trying again... Hunted Charlie 04:06, 22 November 2007 (GMT)
Responses
Hi Hunted Charlie, I don't quite know what this "OiNK debacle" is; could you please fill me in on this, thanks? I would remove the posts, but I'm not sure what's going on - I can't access the forums. Sorry. (Perhaps you could get, say, votan or someone to alter the posts in question.) MM (talk!) 02:12, 22 November 2007 (GMT) Nup, I actually don't torrent; I do, however, use FTP filesharing, but that's only for academic essays and such. All I know about OiNK is that there was a thread (and posts) about it in the Gutter, it is (or perhaps "was", apparently) a flashy pink site, it was closed off for public viewing. Would this, say, be similar to the crackdown on "Demonoid" that I've been hearing about? Okay, contact the admins; they'll fix the problem. Say, what has happened on MTGS anyway? ... and what can they (whoever it is - the people who shut "OiNK" down???) do with personal information? MM (talk!) 03:38, 22 November 2007 (GMT) Funny thing; it's not so much I'm blacklisting it, I just can't access it. It's sorta a conscious choice, as well. Is {MikeyG} now an admin? MM (talk!) 03:54, 22 November 2007 (GMT) I have no idea; when I try to access it, a number of things may pop up; from blank pages, to this page cannot be accessed, to your connections seems to be not working, etc. Eh, ... I don't suppose it matters now - I'm neither into Magic, nor anything it can possibly offer - in terms of thread games, card creation, discussion/debate, strategy. I am now primarily focused here, as for MTG-related activities, and have worldly, real-life things I must attend to. MM (talk!) 03:57, 22 November 2007 (GMT) Nope, sorry; it's not working. Main categories
In light of our recent talk on S&R some question about main categories arised in my mind. What is the difference between Category:Magic: The Gathering and Category:The Game of Magic? Wouldn't be better to have just one cat. for all those articles? Or maybe the difference between these two categories should be cleared up? --MORT (T) 13:28, 23 November 2007 (GMT)
- When you look at subcategories of these two cat.s it doesn't seem so obvious. One has "Magic rules", another has "Colors" and similiar articles. There should be some clear distinction, easily notable in the text describing a category, so people would know what to put where. And I still think we can use only one category (M:TG) for them all. There should be something like Category:? for all those articles and categories which cannot be placed under any other. I dunno --MORT (T) 17:36, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Species&Rcaes
What is so wrong with the name (in my language it doesn't make a [sic] impression ;-)). I can guess however that you're concerned about capitalised "Races" too. But if wanna change it, then ok. One word? one word... Only "Bestiary" is coming to my mind at the moment (has a fantasy feeling). Or just "Species". --MORT (T) 17:36, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, Bestiary doesn't make justice to sentient races. In fact only "Species and races" describes fully what's inside. I can't think of any other. --MORT (T) 13:48, 24 November 2007 (GMT)
Recent Deletions
I'm just a little concerned about two of the pages you've deleted today. One was my page 60 cards, Draw first which was an example to clarify the thinking of my part of the Mana curve page, whose clarity you've critizied as a whole. If that clarity problem truly belongs to Mana curve#simulations then I'd appreciate knowing that. You've also deleted Fundamental turn, which I understand was a wickkeddarkman special, I'm curious as to what it contained. I'd like to have a good page at that site. Also, I'd like to know specifically what you feel needs work in Heezy Street. Fishysua 19:33, 29 November 2007 (GMT)
You have powers Mike! ;-) You can undelete any deleted page.--MORT (T) 19:50, 29 November 2007 (GMT)- Sorry, I thought it was GeoMike's edit. Yes, I think we should first put articles into MTG_Salvation_Wiki:Articles_for_Deletion before deleting. If you want I can try to undelete it. (It would be good to change its name though). --MORT (T) 19:59, 29 November 2007 (GMT)
Thank you for restoring 60 cards, Draw first. I understand that as an article it will never be searched for, it is an example calculation and exists as a seperate page to improve the readability of Mana curve, which references it. I have not seen a format for examples or template or other such, but it could be moved to Example:60 cards, draw first or some such if that is a likable precedent but we should announce such a thing to avoid future debate. It was also titled thus so that the place it was linked from in Mana curve#Basic curves would have a uniform formating, which was also chosen to improve readability. As for the sic in basic curves the example actually clarifies exactly what is meant by doubling up the mana slot. I'll make no claims to understanding what WD was after in the Mana curve#simulation section. I also understand that I'm interested in a more mathematically abstract wiki than the general population member.Fishysua 16:09, 1 December 2007 (GMT)
- On a seperate note, "List of cards from Invasion" is now one of my subpages. I guess I didn't have the heart to completely remove it from the wiki. So it is still out there, if needed. --GeoMike 02:14, 2 December 2007 (GMT)
