Talk:Gideon Jura
How does this fit together with his backstory as presented in the Gather Your Allies video? The video confuses me. --71.217.10.139 05:49, 24 August 2011 (EDT) The video is completely non-canon. It's not meant to accurately depict his backstory.Barinellos 00:17, 25 August 2011 (EDT)
I am not trying to debate you I just find it odd that wizards of the coast all about detail and backstory would make the video with it having nothing to do with him seems odd they would do that. Do you source for that? Just curious. My reason for posting is in relation to the Duel of the Planeswalkers 2012 game in the current article it states - "In The Purifying Fire, Gideon's weapon is referred to as a sural, however, wizards later chose to call it an urumi during his appearance in Rise of the Eldrazi." in the game when it shows information about the planeswalkers and backstory info, it calls it a sural, and this game came out well afetr Rise of the Eldrazi. So which is it? 63.163.213.249 23:07, 16 September 2011 (EDT)
Jura
In latin, jura means "the right, the duty or the laws that defines a legal system". Since Gideon is a hieromant who uses his power to enforce order, I've always thought that this is more than just a coincidence. Have Wizards ever said anything on this? --Firebead elvenhair (talk) 22:46, 7 November 2017 (UTC)
Clarifying Revised Origin
In comparison to Tezzeret's page, where the contested canonicity of Test of Metal is left until after the main character History section, Gideon's current page appears muddied with the Adolescence section and subheader Revised Origin. Very few elements are outright contradicted between the backstory as presented in The Purifying Fire versus Magic Origins and the corresponding Magic Duels campaign. To present a more relevant and accurate canon character history, is there opposition to finally merging the Adolesence and Revised Origin sections, then detailing any contradicted origin elements in a new section below Artifacts Acquired? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Acry (talk • contribs) 05:22, 2 February 2025.
- I don't think there's any reason to treat it any differently from the way we treat Tezzeret. Especially when there's far fewer contradictions and multiple sources aligning (on most things). Go for it! -- RivalRowan (talk) 05:35, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
