A card is face up if it's physically positioned so the card front is showing. Cards in some zones are normally kept face up.

Face up is also a default status a permanent may have. See rule 110.6 and rule 702.36, “Morph.”

Face Up
1. A card is “face up” if it’s physically positioned so the card front is showing. Cards in some zones are normally kept face up. See section 4, “Zones.”
2. A default status a permanent may have. See rule 110.5 and rule 702.37, “Morph.”
