In the modern age of Dominaria, the continental plate under the former Terisian island of Argoth is completely shattered. Because of this, there's a north-south deep-sea trench that runs almost from the Terisian Isles to Sarpadia in the south.

Description

Because of the Homarids living within the trench, it forms a nasty north-south divide in the Dominarian waters that's probably a real challenge for merfolk to pass through safely.[1]

The Old Voda Sea part of the trench includes Dromar's Cavern, an ancient merfolk crypt which once housed the blue primeval, Dromar.[2]

History

The trench expanded from the Old Voda Sea to the Terisian Isles in the wake of the Sylex Blast, forming a cold-water habitat for the homarids to thrive in. After about a century of breeding, the homarids rose from the trench and invaded the Vodalian empire, forcing the merfolk to flee before them. During the Fall of the Sarpadian Empires, Galina and her court had to resort to a portal to transport the remnants of her empire away from the homarid-infested waters.
