Samut is a former initiate of Tah crop on Amonkhet, who later became a notorious dissenter. She is very atlethic and able to move very fast.

Youth

Samut used to be best friends with Djeru and Nakht. After the death of Nakht outside the Hekma, Samut studied the dance and martial arts of the past in the forgotten distict of Naktamun, and discovered that her people's history had been wiped from memory.[1][2]

Dissenter

She refused to participate in the Trials of the Five Gods and warned against the coming of the God-Pharaoh, the Great Trespasser.[3][4]

Trial of Zeal

Samut appealed to Hazoret to stop Djeru from taking the last Trial. She tried to tell Hazoret that she used to be the Mother of Zeal and Nurturer of Hearts before she became a cruel god. For this, she was locked up in a sarcophagus.[5] From this predicament she was saved by the Gatewatch, shortly before they were all forced by the gods to fight the Trial of Zeal against Djeru and the other worthy initiates. In a surprise move Samut managed to join forces with Djeru, convincing him to pray for her life to Hazoret. In exchange she prevented Djeru's death by the spear of Hazoret, though Djeru didn't appreciated the gesture. This was just moments before the Revelation.
