Flash is a keyword ability which allows cards to be played at any time you could play an Instant. Cards with Flash will first be released in the Time Spiral set in October 2006. Although the ability existed before Time Spiral, this is the first time it will be properly keyworded. All older cards with this ability will receive errata to change the ability to Flash.

From the Comprehensive Rules:

  • 502.57. Flash
    • 502.57a Flash is a static ability that functions in any zone from which you could play the card it's on. "Flash" means "You may play this card any time you could play an instant."
    • 502.57b Multiple instances of flash on the same object are redundant.
