The Order of Heliud is an organization that seeks to bring law to the plane of Regatha though hieromancy, the magic of holy justice. They sent evildoers into the Purifying Fire, which probes the soul for sin and is able to destroy a mortal being or drain all power from a planeswalker, including the ability to planeswalk.

Gideon Jura's strong morals and sense of duty led him to serve as an agent for the Order of Heliud. He was sent to apprehend the pyromancer planeswalker Chandra Nalaar for stealing the Dragon Scroll.

The Order was led by Walbert, who had ulterior motives for wanting Chandra out of the way. Gideon eventually returned with Chandra. With Gideon’s help, however, Chandra survived Walbert’s persecution and gave Gideon reason to question the Order’s true motives.

After some soul-searching, Gideon decided to follow Chandra to Zendikar, believing he could help her stay alive on the treacherous, unpredictable plane.
