The 2021 Arena Starter Kit is a 2-Player Starter Set for Magic: The Gathering that was released on August 6, 2021.[1]
Description
The Arena Starter Kit (in previous editions known as the Spellslinger Starter Kit) is a learn-to-play product aimed at new players, including instructional materials that guide two players through their first game. It is sold in local game stores and mass market stores for about $8,--. The two face cards are given the foil treatment. The decks feature cards from Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, Strixhaven: School of Mages, Kaldheim and Zendikar Rising. Unlike its predecessor, this is is not connected to a core set, leading to a confusing name compared to the starter kit connected to Core Set 2021.
Contents
- 2 60-card preconstructed decks, including a foil card each
- 2 First game walk-through cards
- 1 Play Guide booklet
- 2 deck boxes
- 1 MTG Arena code card (unlocks both decks for 2 players)
Versions
The Amazon exclusive version of the Starter Kit (blue box) features Oran-Rief Ooze and Mind Flayer as its face cards. The version available at local game stores and big-box stores (orange box) features Cyclone Summoner and Dragonsguard Elite as its face cards. There are no other differences. The decklists still are the same.
