Teruya Kakumae is a Japanese professional player. He first attracted attention during the 2014–15 season when he won two Grand Prix events, GP Kobe and GP Auckland, and took an early lead in the Grand Prix Player of the Year race.[1] However, he ultimately fell behind in the race to North American players with more ready access to Grand Prix events. In 2016–17, in the Team Series, he joined the Japanese superteam Musashi,[2] which ended up winning the series.
