"Vanilla" is a slang term that refers to creatures with no special abilities or mechanics (i.e. Scathe Zombies).

Muraganda Petroglyphs is the only card that rewards vanilla creatures for having no abilities.

The term "french vanilla" refers to creatures that only have an evergreen keyword ability such as haste or flying.

The term "virtual vanilla" refers to creatures that are vanilla after the first turn they enter the battlefield.
