Commander 2015/Plunder the Graves

Plunder the Graves is a 100 card Commander preconstructed deck, first featured in Commander 2015 and reprinted in Commander Anthology. It is a black and green deck.[1] The primary theme of the deck is graveyard recursion, and the secondary themes are sacrificing permanents and +1/+1 counters. The primary new commander is Meren of Clan Nel Toth, the secondary new commander is Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, and the reprint commander is Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord.

Decklist

“  The “Plunder the Graves” deck is commanded by Meren of Clan Nel Toth, a pariah of Jund who returned to her homeland wielding Grixis necromancy. Meren’s specialty is reanimation, reusing everything from the smallest to the largest of creatures in an endless wave of ferocious onslaughts.

Meren is all about recycling her fallen minions. Many of the deck’s creatures have enters-the-battlefield abilities that will trigger each time they’re revived. Even a seemingly minor ability on a small creature can spell trouble for opponents who let it happen too many times.

Because your commander gives you the ability to revive your other creatures, your opponents will likely be focusing on her first. Try to get some creatures onto the battlefield that can sacrifice other creatures or themselves so that you’re prepared to collect those experience counters before Meren is sent back to the command zone. Meren will be even more of a problem when she comes back!

When you’re playing this deck, don’t be too worried about trading your creatures for your opponents’ in combat or even outright blocking larger creatures just to save some life. This deck operates best with a full graveyard, exhausting opposing resources while building up its own.
