Munetsugu Takeno was the general of the Eiganjo samurai forces of daimyo Takeshi Konda. He was present during the ritual of Konda's crime. Before and after, he served Konda faithfully and without any questions.

When the Kami War reached its climax, Takeno was already an old man with aching bones. He scarcely left Eiganjo, leaving the field leadership to the younger generals. When O-Kagachi attacked Eiganjo, Takeno refused to abandon his lord. When it was apparent that the castle is going to be destroyed, he demanded to know from Konda what he was fighting for all the time (and most probably to die for), just for the old friendship's sake. When O-Kagachi broke the wall of Konda's inner chamber, Takeno leapt in the way of huge flying sliver of rock, that was about to impale Konda, to save his lord. Himself impaled, he fell with the rock hunk to the yard below.

After Toshi Umezawa stole The Taken One, O-Kagachi disappeared. Konda found himself left among debris and dead bodies. However, the Eiganjo soldiers that died fighting O-Kagachi were recreated in spirit form, Takeno included. The spirit-Takeno had a hypertrophied sword-arm, fused with his katana. Along with the rest of the spirit army, the spirit-Takeno ceased to exist when O-Kagachi was destroyed by the Sisters of Flesh and Spirit.
