To guess is the act of giving an answer to a particular question when you do not have all the facts and so cannot be certain if you are correct. It may appear as a term on Magic: The Gathering cards.[1] Guessing is not mentioned in the Comprehensive Rules.

History

The first time guessing was used was on the acorn card Squirrel Farm (Unglued). It first appearance in black border was Liar's Pendulum (Mirrodin). The only other appearance in a premier set was Master of Predicaments (Magic 2015).

Guessing is now mostly relegated to acorn cards, in supplemental sets (e.g. Spire Phantasm (Conspiracy: Take the Crown)) and Universes Beyond (e.g. Gollum, Scheming Guide (Lord of the Rings), The Seventh Doctor, The Celestial Toymaker)
