Battle of Amonkhet

The Battle of Amonkhet was a conflict between planeswalkers and the wandering dead that invaded Naktamun after its fall. The planeswalkers aimed not to destroy the dead, but to lure enough of them to serve Marit Lage and sate her hunger for worshipers. Many undead fell during the battle, but a significant number survived by design. Those that did not fall were given carefully crafted instructions to serve Marit Lage using the collective powers of Kaya, Vraska, Ral Zarek, Jace Beleren, and Liliana Vess, functioning as a machine.
The attack was planned by the planeswalkers as a way to save Ravnica from Marit Lage. Samut and Basri Ket saw this sacrifice of the overrun city created by Nicol Bolas as a way to justify its existence.
Due to the limited amount of time before Marit Lage would strike, the planeswalkers had to act quickly. Just before Marit Lage's impact, all except Vraska and Jace planeswalked to Dominaria where Ajani Goldmane and Niambi waited to heal the wounded. Vraska, angry with Jace for lying about having figured out how to survive the coming impact, stubbornly stayed behind to die by his side. However, upon noticing Vraska stayed behind, Kaya returned and ghosted her to safety against her will.
