Baltrice

Baltrice is a red aligned planeswalker. She is a pyromancer who specializes in fire elementals, though she seems to have learned some of the art of artifice from Tezzeret. She appears in the book Agents of Artifice as the loyal lieutenant of the artificer Tezzeret, working for the Infinite Consortium. She is described as a woman at least 6 foot tall with broad shoulders and ash-grey hair. During the book she takes an instant and intense dislike to Jace Beleren, and shows herself to be irrational and hot-headed. She briefly shows her good side when she lets Jace escape in return for having saved her life, but she shows her dark side when she repeatedly tortures Jace when he is imprisoned by Tezzeret. At the end of the book she is defeated by Liliana Vess and apparently killed.

Baltrice appeared again in the book "Test of Metal", and was revealed not to have been dead but severely wounded. Jace finds her on Ravnica and cures her of her trauma by burying her memories of what happened during Baltrice's fight with Liliana. Jace also apparently altered her mentality so she would be more agreeable toward him. After recovering, Baltrice serves as an aide to Jace and later Tezzeret.
