Set Details on Lorwyn

Please, in accordance with the Manual of Style, capitalize titles and section headers/titles appropriately. MM (talk!) 08:48, 20 November 2007 (GMT)

Where did I not capitalize it? --GeoMike 12:09, 20 November 2007 (GMT)
No, no, it's the fact that you capitalised the "D". You only ever need to capitalise the first letter of the title unless it's, what, a proper noun. MM (talk!) 13:08, 20 November 2007 (GMT)

My revert was in response to the removal of that information, yes; but this is by no means an indication that we should backtrack to find out when a set was spoiled - also, it doesn't work for a fair few sets, considering MTGS was started only, what, five years ago.

No other set has made any mention, because, to be frank, no one has given a damn about the page or anything at all, other than the fact that they're spoiled and the cards are out there, however few days prior to the official — or even the pre- — release.

No, we do not have to research when a set was spoiled on MTGS, and I can't access it for some reason - not that I care at all. It's not going to be a trend; there are enough differences with the set pages, anyway. Some long, others short, some intricate and detailed, others barely a stub.

Hmm... MM (talk!) 08:48, 20 November 2007 (GMT)

Personally, I don't like spoiling of cards ~ but that is a whole other topic. --GeoMike 12:24, 29 November 2007 (GMT)

Archives and "Article of the Week"

GeoMike, your page is getting a bit long; would you consider archiving?

On this "Article of the Week" - I appear to forget who mentioned it, but it was a very good initiative - perhaps we should nominate an article, usually a short page which will be worked on for a week, and then there will be a comparison. Any thoughts on implementing this or anything regarding it? MM (talk!) 02:38, 22 November 2007 (GMT)

"Article of the Week" sounds good, will it be incorporated on the Main Page somewhere?. I also have a suggestion, for us moderators. Can we make some article on here where we can talk, suggest ideas, etc. I was also wondering if there was a way to notify all moderators anytime there is a change to that "talk page", otherwise we'd have to check it everyday. --GeoMike 03:04, 22 November 2007 (GMT)
Yeah, it would be nice to make a sort of Featured Article, like wikipedia has. --MORT (T) 16:57, 22 November 2007 (GMT)

Well, GeoMike, there's the Admin noticeboard, which is open to all for viewing. There isn't any way that I know of that this hypothetical page will notify us... I guess you could watch the page, which is still quite a hassle to check. MM (talk!) 04:28, 22 November 2007 (GMT)

On the Admin noteceboard, do we just edit and type at the bottom of the page for messaged we want admins to see? --GeoMike 22:32, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
I suppose so. It's actually a poor excuse for a page, much less a noticeboard; initially, it looks like it was used for resolving disputes and stuff, but now it's more or less a general help page.
Yup, anyone can view it; anyone can edit it; but really, only admins should do something about the matter. MM (talk!) 00:59, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
Actually, it says to make complaints on its talk page (the link lead you there). --MORT (T) 18:25, 26 November 2007 (GMT)
Nah, it's not for complaints (much less, as such); it's for anything - any issue. MM (talk!) 01:34, 27 November 2007 (GMT)

... um, recently I've made an edit to the {{Expansion}} infobox template, and I've added "Development Code" and "Expansion Code", but that creates a problem; every page that doesn't have it will have this annoying text: "{{{Development Code}}}", so I figure it's better if all parameters in the template be changed to "#if"'s, so there's no such thing going on. The big problem is that I have no idea how to work it. Could you have a look at it, please? MM (talk!) 04:28, 22 November 2007 (GMT)

MTGS Wiki

GeoMike, I'm not really sure whether you're also experiencing this, but is "Main Page" displaying the article title "Main Page"? It looks like something's going on with MTGS Wiki.

It probably needs an software upgrade, too; it's about five or so upgrades/patches behind, and needs a few more extensions - such as CheckUser. MM (talk!) 04:49, 22 November 2007 (GMT)

My Main Page looks fine, except that on the Main Page there is Navigation column and then to the left of that is another Nagivagation column that is on every page (little redundancy). I'm outta here until Sunday, will be family's for Thanksgiving. --GeoMike 11:10, 22 November 2007 (GMT)

If there are any questions about the blocking of "Bonk", feel free to ask... it should be fairly self-explanatory, or a given at the least. Same deal with the deletion of "Coloholics". I really wish we were able to check the IP's then ban them, or even a block of them. >.> MM (talk!) 08:45, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Actually, it mightn't be necessary; it's far easier for us to block them than it is for them to sign up. (lol!1!) MM (talk!) 08:45, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

A proposition... we remove pages such as The Fallen Evincar, or "User:The Fallen Evincar", from visible, accessible sight, by moving them to a remote, misleading-titled page... then, we proceed to ban those editors who have only made contributions to such pages, e.g. "Paps" (or "A Banana"). I quite detest those/these Coloholics Anonymous members. MM (talk!) 08:45, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

And here I am trying to use the Admin noticeboard for board discussion and nobody is noticing hehe --GeoMike 12:20, 28 November 2007 (GMT)

Hrm? Oh, sorry. Yes, yes, I've noticed it, but have yet to reply to it; I haven't thought about how I should respond. I'll probably answer roughly when, if not before, MORT answers. MM (talk!) 04:59, 29 November 2007 (GMT)
I was sorta declaring my stance and future actions that will be taken by myself upon Coloholic Anonymous editors, though... anyhow, I shall be out. =) MM (talk!) 04:59, 29 November 2007 (GMT)

Proposal

I noticed your edit summary about Proposal. Yeh, few to no card-whatcha-ma-call-it's will have it (due to its rarity, duh! ^.^), so I decided to do a bit of "Googling" (more like "Google Imaging", to search with Google Images)... and voila, we have Proposal.

Oh yeh, there's always Magic Library (we've got an article on them; they're worth it =p).

And here's Proposal... http://www.portalemagic.it/public/immagini/curiosita/proposal.jpg

Can't upload it now; I have to mull over my failure in recent examinations, and address that and related issues.

Got it from some Italian Wikipedia('s cached results from Google) - probably the Italian Wikipedia - didn't really check the website.

Alrighty, so see ya! MM (talk!) 05:06, 29 November 2007 (GMT)

Great find! Since magiclibrary had no image I just thought there wouldn't be an image out there at all. --GeoMike 12:19, 29 November 2007 (GMT)

It's a bit of a shame that it's a bit small. Are you going to start an article for each of the promotion "Garfield" 'set' cards? MM (talk!) 13:27, 29 November 2007 (GMT)

Sure, I'd like to see articles on all of the rarest cards. If they are still available, I'd like to buy a Splendid Genesis when I have my first child. --GeoMike 14:45, 29 November 2007 (GMT)
Heh, that's awesome, but... I can't bear to think of the practicality and costs; I don't imagine that'll purchase will come cheap. oh waaai- MM (talk!) 14:51, 29 November 2007 (GMT)
The card would only be for sentimental reasons :) --GeoMike 14:53, 29 November 2007 (GMT)
With the articles, I think, for the time being, they should be under, say, List of rare cards (or something), and then when there's more info we'll move the info out onto a new page just for that card. Redirects at the moment are probably a good way to link to this page without too much trouble. MM (talk!) 14:51, 29 November 2007 (GMT)
Nice ("List of rare cards" article). ;) MM (talk!) 15:37, 29 November 2007 (GMT)

Box-topper (card)

I think it's unnecessary to have the (card) bit for this; it itself is not a Magic: The Gathering card. MM (talk!) 13:26, 30 November 2007 (GMT)

Done --GeoMike 13:38, 30 November 2007 (GMT)
Oh... oh... okay. Mmmm... I was actually referring to the "(card)" bit that followed "Box-topper". What do you think? MM (talk!) 14:04, 30 November 2007 (GMT)
Smacks forehead --GeoMike 15:21, 30 November 2007 (GMT)
So... anyway, I've been 'code-monkeying' around, and updated and altered {{People}} so that there are no parameters. Pretty cool now. For its usage, I haven't gotten around to explaining it all, but it was fairly self-explanatory before. Now, this template can successfully be used for all people - users of MTGS, users of MTGS Wiki, famous people in the MTGS community, Wizards employees, everyone (with maybe some minor tweaks and amendments, though). For an example of its capabilities, you can check out my profile page. ^.^ (Hans Gruber is there for teh lulz, and as an example. =P) MM (talk!) 03:14, 2 December 2007 (GMT)
Kewlio - good job :) --GeoMike 03:27, 2 December 2007 (GMT)
I'm sure we need more things to add to it (I have a mindblank now); but, with doing so, we complicate the template... MM (talk!) 03:29, 2 December 2007 (GMT)

Phyrexia.com

Pardon? I don't quite understand your edit, GeoMike, nor the summary you left. "that large of a userbase and notability, it is a rather comprehensive website about Magic storyline and continuity." doesn't seem to make sense, to me at least. Same for the removal of the bracketed, albeit unnecessary, nine. MM (talk!) 14:35, 2 December 2007 (GMT)

"that great of a userbase" vs "that large of a userbase" - at least when I hear those two phrases, the first one almost sounds condescending - to some there might not be a difference between great and large, change it back if you want. It didn't sound polite the way it was first phrased to me. The words might have different meanings to different people. As far as having numbers in brackets? What is wikipedia's policy on that? I think their policy is any number under 21 should be typed out, but don't know what their policy is on bracketing numbers. --GeoMike 14:45, 2 December 2007 (GMT)
Why does it sound condescending? I do not see how "that large a userbase" (as opposed to "that great of a userbase") did not sound polite, or perhaps how it sounds not-polite - or impolite even. It's unlikely that the words have different meanings in this case, but perhaps there are different connotations and such. MM (talk!) 15:01, 2 December 2007 (GMT)
With regards to Wikipedia's policy on numbers, they don't tend to have numbers in brackets after the number spelled out, but they do on occasion (hence my "tend to"; for some instances when they're referring to a number or emphasising, they do, for example). They also spell out a number if it's under 10, as per normal English rules and conventions. MM (talk!) 15:01, 2 December 2007 (GMT)

Alpha/Beta moves

Sorry, should have notified. I've left a note with the moves, stating why I moved them, but yeh, should have notified, as I said. Should be better, shorter, and more direct now. MM (talk!) 15:14, 2 December 2007 (GMT)

Cheers. MM (talk!) 15:14, 2 December 2007 (GMT)

I love the move! Makes more sense to me :) I would search on Alpha and not Limited Edition Alpha myself. --GeoMike 15:15, 2 December 2007 (GMT)
I'm not sure. If the card is named Prodigal Sorcerer but most people call it Tim, won't you still place its article under correct, official name? Redirects are useful tool for other popular names... --MORT (T) 18:13, 4 December 2007 (GMT)

Pardon?

Re: http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/index.php?title=Template:Majornews&curid=2984&diff=41175&oldid=41173&rcid=39424

Please explain. MM (talk!) 14:50, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Also, if what I think you're getting at is what you're doing, then sic, template and word itself, aren't used in such a manner. MM (talk!) 14:51, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
I googled the meaning of sic the other day and saw it means language errors, my mistake. I thought it could be used everywhere - didn't know the meaning of it. --GeoMike 23:14, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Where'd you go

Seems like it's been forever,

That I've been gone.

Some days I wanna quit, and just be normal for a bit

Hello. The will of the mind is not to be matched, although the same cannot be used in reference with other things, definitely not with my avoiding of must-do, high-priority tasks and assignments.

I'm not too sure whether I'm still here, but it looks like - at least for now - I am.

I suppose I should wish all a Merry Christmas before I miss the opportunity to do so, and if I go missing again. Enjoy your Christmas; have a merry one, and a happy New Year. May '08 bring you undreamed-of prospects and a panoply of good fortune.

How've you been faring during the interim of the current and... two to four weeks ago? --MM (talk!) 13:40, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Thought I made you mad, though that was never my intenton. My fault for not knowing what 'sic' meant. Glad you came back :) I love the holidays greetings on the front page. Merry Christmas to everyone too. --GeoMike 15:25, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Absolutely not, GeoMike; you're lovely! (I was never mad over the 'sic' incident if you can call it that.) I was sort-of busied with matters that I feel are of life and death - it's a bit of a shame though. My Internet connection was also somewhat 'faulty', and even with a working connection, there's been little purpose to go on the 'net now. I quite like the (specifically, Google's) holiday greetings, but that's the problem; it's Google's. MM (talk!) 15:42, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
It is a rainy Christmas in Georgia, but we really need the rain so no complaining here. --GeoMike 20:58, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
Hm, you've (I've) got mail it looks. Don't worry about the categories; they're just a side-effect of the {{Deckpage}} template. MM (talk!) 03:28, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for ridding of those infernal things, those bot-like vandal-cretins! =)
Have a Happy New Year.
Experiencing the future earlier, MM (talk!) 09:29, 31 December 2007 (UTC) ^.^

I think this wiki and I have had a very prosperous 2007, look forward to doing much more with everyone in 2008! --GeoMike 17:01, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Template:Blocked

Something I just created after lifting some of it from good old Wikipedia. I think this is a better way of keeping track of block and bans; also, we (or I) can probably edit it so that it categorizes users into categories regarding activities for which they were banned, e.g. "advertising", "vandalism", ... er... "stupidity/garbage/'dumbassery'". :p (This can be useful because we can check for duplicate accounts and stuff... probably. We also need IP checking, probably. We always seem to get hordes of people vandalising at a time, so I think there's some collection of people, say a forum, behind these attempts at destabilizing the wiki. We ban them and they're gone; they should be, anyway.)

So far it hasn't been used, by the way... MM (talk!) 05:21, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Whatever happened to the Creating Account feature where they would have to type in a word or letters found in a graphic, that helps prevent bots things. --GeoMike 05:41, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
I tried to get Hannes to implement it; something happened and all progress just stopped. How do bots work, and does CAPTCHA (it doesn't have to be a graphic) help? MM (talk!) 04:38, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
I would just think that bots would not be able to type in the word or random letters being displayed to create an account. Our account creation process is too easy right now in my opinion but maybe I'm just being paranoid. I put a lot of time into this Wiki and would hate to see it destroyed by bots. --GeoMike 11:43, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't think you're being paranoid; if anything, mindful, dependable, and conscientious. I, too, wouldn't like to see this thing tainted by bots and idiots messing about with gimmicks. You can contact Hannes about CAPTCHA. Right now, I have to deal with a leaky loo. Ick, but someone's gotta do it, I guess. Everyone's out and won't be back until some time some day. >.>
Good luck with pushing the issue with Hannes. From experience, he doesn't reply immediately; so you may have to wait on him for his reply. :) MM (talk!) 12:45, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Rules

I'm thinking of reviewing the ones that were implemented and copy-pasted from Wikipedia, and writing our own Manual of Style, so that it includes MTGS Wiki-specific content, such as the card/deck tags, etc. I'm working on buttons and stuff, too; but I'm not really good with the MediaWiki stuff. MM (talk!) 05:23, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Where've I been?

I haven't been feeling very good the past 6 days or more. When I don't feel well, even contributing to my favorite wiki seems isn't fun :( I don't like that feeling - actually sitting in my computer chair felt uncomfortable. I hope to be feeling well in the next couple of days. --GeoMike 02:39, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

I also hope you feel better in times to come, and soon. I'm a bit glum, not to mention feeling fairly introspective and soul-searching, myself. MM (talk!) 03:28, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks MM, the new medicine is helping. I hope you find what your looking for. --GeoMike 17:56, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
It is so frustrating when the medicine doesn't work as fast as you want it to. :( --GeoMike 01:23, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. It's a bit frustrating when it's not doing what you want, as you want it; sometimes I don't even bother with medicine. Medicines don't work at the same rate in similar dosages for different people, furthering to my disinclination towards them. Just remember, if you ever need a rest, take it. It's always good to say that you've got your health. ;)
As for myself, I find myself angry with myself for trying to get myself to do work and not doing so. I've cut down my time here and there, but I've increased my time spent frivolously browsing Wikipedia, lol.
Oh, just a note, GeoMike, when you kill the bots, be sure to scalp them and undo their sins; revert, and, I don't know if you want to, but you can tag why, when, and by whom they were blocked. Thanks again! MM (talk!) 13:29, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
