Harpy is a seldom used black and blue creature type used for cards that depict ravenous, filthy monsters that have a woman's head and a bird's body.

The first card named Harpy was Screeching Harpy in Tempest, but it had the subtype Beast. Two other cards followed: Molting Harpy in Mercadian Masques (which only was a Mercenary and the multicolored Cavern Harpy in Planeshift (a Beast again).,

In the Grand Creature Type Update the Harpy was specifically introduced as an additional subtype for these three cards. Since then, no Harpy has ever been printed again.
