The octopus is a venomous cephalopod that prefers a solitary nature in the sea. Their most notable features are eight tentacular arms that symmetrically radiate around a hard beak. Their primary defense mechanism is to flee while ejecting an ink cloud into the water. Many octopi are known to employe natural camouflage to help elude intruders. They are not to be confused with the closely related squid or kraken. Octopi are intelligent creatures, but lack the sentience of their humanoid versions the cephalids.
