Some cards ask for something to be chosen at random usually for discarding purposes. Popular cards asking for something random include Balduvian Horde and Hymn to Tourach. A popular way of resolving this is to place your hand of cards under the table or behind your back and mixing them up then letting your opponent choose the random card.
